City of Syrup is an adult roleplay community built around relationships, families, friendships, groups, businesses, and the stories we create together. As a love story RP city, our focus is on meaningful character development, lasting connections, and experiences that give every player an opportunity to participate.
Gangs are no longer part of City of Syrup. Players are expected to build their characters and activities around the city’s current direction.
The following rules apply in game and, where relevant, within the City of Syrup Discord community. Every player is responsible for understanding these expectations and following them throughout their time in the community.
1. Age Requirements & Community Conduct
All players must be 18 years of age or older to join or participate in City of Syrup.
Treat fellow community members, administrators, and staff with respect. Hate speech, discriminatory language, personal threats, and harassment are prohibited.
Disrespect toward administrators, staff, or female players will not be tolerated. This includes personal insults, sexist remarks, intimidation, degrading comments, and repeated unwanted attention. The expectation of respectful treatment applies to every member of the community.
Sexual content must not be posted or shared in game or in Discord.
Character conflict must remain separate from personal conflict. An argument, rivalry, or disagreement between characters does not justify harassing the person behind the character. Do not use roleplay as an excuse to threaten, insult, or repeatedly target someone outside the game.
Keep in-character disputes out of out-of-character conversations, Discord channels, and private messages. If a situation requires staff involvement, report it through the appropriate support process instead of turning it into a public argument.
2. In-Character Conduct & Fair Roleplay
In-character information, commonly referred to as IC, is information your character learns through their experiences within the city. Out-of-character information, commonly referred to as OOC, is information you learn outside those experiences.
Metagaming is prohibited. Your character must not act on information obtained from Discord, livestreams, private messages, or another character you play unless that information has been learned independently through legitimate roleplay.
For example, seeing a player’s location on a livestream does not give your character a valid reason to travel there or confront them.
Stream sniping is prohibited. Do not watch another player’s stream to locate them, discover their plans, monitor an active scene, or gain an advantage.
Powergaming is prohibited. Players must have a reasonable opportunity to respond to the actions directed toward their characters. Do not force an outcome, declare another player’s response for them, or use game mechanics to perform actions your character could not reasonably accomplish.
Job roles, authority, and job-related access must be used for their intended purpose. Do not misuse your position or its permissions to intimidate, taunt, or harm other players.
Remain in character during active scenes. Do not stop a scene to debate rules or argue about whether another player is violating them.
Complete the scene, then bring your concerns to staff for review.
3. Valid Interactions, Altercations & Body Bagging
Conflict must develop through meaningful roleplay. Players must give one another an opportunity to understand the situation, respond, and participate before escalating it.
Random Deathmatch, commonly referred to as RDM, is strictly prohibited. Do not attack or kill another player without a valid roleplay reason.
Vehicle Deathmatch, commonly referred to as VDM, is strictly prohibited. Do not deliberately use a vehicle to harm or kill another player.
A minimum of three valid roleplay interactions is required before an altercation can occur. Each interaction must contribute to the development of the conflict and give the other player a reasonable chance to respond.
Repeating the same demand, making several meaningless comments, or rushing through an exchange simply to reach the required number does not count as three valid interactions. The requirement concerns the quality and development of the roleplay, not merely the number of statements made.
Body bagging requires a minimum of seven valid interactions beforehand. The three interactions required for an altercation may count toward the seven, provided they meet the same standard for valid roleplay.
Interactions that occur inside a Green Zone do not count toward either requirement. Moving outside the Green Zone does not make earlier interactions within it eligible to count.
Do not join an active conflict without a valid in-character reason and a proper roleplay introduction to the scene. Being aware that a conflict is happening does not, by itself, justify participating.
Do not repeatedly provoke players or police solely to manufacture a fight or chase.
Meeting the interaction requirement does not automatically justify an attack or body bagging. The scene must still have a valid roleplay basis and comply with the remaining rules.
RDM and VDM violations may result in comms, Peace Time, or a ban, depending on the circumstances and severity.
4. Green Zones, Businesses & Store Fronts
Green Zones, commonly referred to as GZs, are designated safe areas and must be respected.
Trapping is prohibited inside Green Zones and at business or store fronts. This restriction applies even when another player or business owner gives permission. Individual permission does not override the rule.
Trapping may occur in other locations when the scene follows all applicable roleplay requirements.
Do not camp in a Green Zone or use it to bait players into a confrontation. Safe areas must not be used to manipulate a conflict or create an unfair advantage.
Interactions inside a Green Zone cannot be counted toward the three interactions required for an altercation or the seven interactions required for body bagging.
5. Fear for Life & Participation in Active Scenes
Players must value their characters’ lives and respond realistically to credible threats.
Your character’s actions should reflect the danger they are facing, their surroundings, and the options reasonably available to them. Avoid treating serious threats as though your character cannot be injured or face consequences.
During a robbery, if three or more players have you under threat, you must show fear for your life and roleplay the situation accordingly.
Police interactions must have a valid roleplay basis. Players are expected to participate in these scenes realistically and allow them to develop through in-character actions and responses.
While involved in an active scene, remain in character and participate. Do not ignore another player’s roleplay, refuse to respond, or use information learned outside the game to change the outcome.
Failed roleplay involving police or other players may result in comms or Peace Time.
6. Combat Logging, Body Bags & Respawning
Combat logging is prohibited. Do not disconnect, close the game, or switch characters to avoid an active scene, arrest, robbery, or other roleplay consequence.
This rule applies when leaving would prevent other participants from completing the scene or allow your character to avoid its outcome.
Do not F8 out while body bagged. Doing so will result in the loss of your entire inventory.
After respawning from a scene, do not immediately return to seek revenge, resume the confrontation, or interfere with the remaining participants.
Do not act on information your character would no longer know following the scene. Remembering something as a player does not automatically mean your character can continue using that information.
7. Business Ownership & Property Activity
Business owners are expected to actively operate and promote their businesses. Ownership should contribute to the city through services, customer interactions, events, or other meaningful business roleplay.
Thirty days of inactivity may result in foreclosure.
The same 30-day inactivity rule applies to MLOs and other in-game properties. Owners are responsible for remaining active and making use of their properties.
Businesses and properties should support an active community rather than remain unused for extended periods.
8. Exploiting, Bug Abuse & Cheating
Exploiting or abusing bugs is prohibited. If you discover a problem, report it to staff instead of using it to obtain money, items, access, or any other advantage.
Do not exploit doors or use emotes to bypass barriers, restrictions, or intended game mechanics. A mechanic being available does not make its misuse acceptable.
Unauthorized spawning of weapons or items is strictly prohibited and will result in a 30-day ban.
Using menus to cheat is strictly prohibited and will result in a 14-day ban.
The specific penalties listed above remain applicable under the community’s enforcement policy.
9. Money Limits & Wipe Restorations
The maximum permitted balances are:
Pocket limit: $3,000,000
Bank limit: $25,000,000
Exceeding either limit will result in a money wipe.
Each player is eligible for one wipe restoration in total. This means one restoration overall, not one for each account or one for each separate incident.
After that restoration has been used, additional money lost from exceeding these limits will not be restored.
Players are responsible for monitoring both balances. Check your pocket and bank amounts before accepting large payments or completing transfers that could cause either account to exceed its limit.
10. Reporting Concerns & Rule Enforcement
If you believe a rule has been violated, complete the active scene and report the matter to staff afterward. Provide a clear explanation of what happened and include any available clips, screenshots, or relevant details that may help staff review the situation.
Reports should focus on the incident and the conduct involved. Avoid personal attacks or carrying the disagreement into public channels.
Rule violations may result in comms, Peace Time, commonly referred to as PT, or a ban. Consequences depend on the circumstances of the scene and the severity of the violation.
Staff may apply these consequences together when appropriate. Specific penalties stated within these rules, including inventory loss and fixed ban durations, still apply.
Every member contributes to the experience City of Syrup offers. Respect the people behind the characters, give others a fair opportunity to participate, and build stories that support the city’s focus on relationships, families, businesses, and community.
